BR-600 MOLD cleaner

The new BR-600 MOLD, with a capacity of 600 litres per tank, has been designed according to the customer’s needs to guarantee high production levels. It has two ultrasonic cleaning tanks with our OPS oil decanting system that allows the cleaning of two mould baskets at the same time. At the end of the cleaning phase, the baskets move to the rinsing tank and, finally, to the passivation tank. At the beginning of the installation there is a loading and unloading area with a grid and an inclined tank to collect the drippings.

Mold cleaning requires superior finishes to minimize product reject rates. The challenge was therefore to design an effective solution that would deliver maximum power with minimum energy consumption. As with other mold cleaning projects, we also performed laboratory tests on the original mold so that the client could verify the effectiveness of our chemical solution.

A custom four-stage installation was chosen: 2 stages of ultrasonic cleaning + rinsing + anti-corrosion protection process.

It also includes the following equipment:

-Safety walkway with anti-slip system.

– Spill-proof tray for the entire installation

-Activated carbon filtering system for the rinsing stage

-Automatic covers

-Hoist with a load capacity of up to 1000 kg for moving baskets around the facility.

Most mould cleaning equipment is custom-made, as its design depends on several factors: customer production times, size and material of the parts to be treated, available space… The same problem may require a custom solution, which is why we specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of custom projects.

Stage 1: BRIO ultrasonic cleaning - Cleaning for large parts

This first bath removes any plastic residue from the surface of the mould, which in this case is made of steel. The ultrasound affects the water in the tank and causes a microscopic hammering that removes any dirt adhering to the surface and cavities of the part. To speed up the process, the machine heats the water to between 65 and 80 degrees Celsius. In addition, to increase efficiency, a specific BRCLEAN alkaline detergent is supplied for the application.

Step 2: Rinse - Cleaning for large parts

This process removes detergent residue by rinsing, with a built-in bubble system that facilitates the complete release of the chemical. In addition, the tank incorporates a filtering system that eliminates soap residue deposited in the cleaning liquid.

Stage 3: Anti-corrosion protection process - Cleaning for large parts

This process displaces any particles that may remain in the mold, also providing a thin film of protection against corrosion.

Thanks to our sight glass system, water that accumulates under the product due to density differences can be easily removed by opening the drain valve. When the operator sees through the sight glass that there is no water left, he stops emptying and that’s it.
