Ultrasonic cleaning machine - operation
Ultrasonic cleaning is a highly efficient process that uses high-frequency acoustic waves to clean objects and surfaces in a deep and delicate manner. The basic principle behind this process is acoustic cavitation, a phenomenon in which ultrasonic waves create tiny bubbles in a liquid that, upon collapsing rapidly and violently, generate high-energy micro-jets. These micro-jets, upon impacting on the surfaces of the object, dissolve or dislodge dirt, oils, material residues and other contaminants without direct physical contact.
How Does Ultrasonic Cleaning Work?
Ultrasonic wave generation: Ultrasonic cleaning machines have an ultrasonic generator that converts high-frequency electric current (usually between 20 kHz and 400 kHz) into acoustic waves. These waves are transmitted through piezoelectric transducers, which convert them into mechanical vibrations and emit them into the cleaning liquid, usually water or a specific chemical solution.
Cavitation: As ultrasonic waves propagate through the liquid, they create areas of high and low pressure. In the low pressure areas, cavitation bubbles form, grow and collapse violently. This collapse of the bubbles generates a high-energy micro-jet that directly impacts the surface of the object to be cleaned, disintegrating dirt and contaminants without damaging the object.
Contaminant Removal: Cavitation action allows for the effective removal of a wide range of contaminants: oils, greases, dust, oxides, adhesive residues, pigments, carbon particles, among others. In addition, since cleaning does not require direct physical contact, the surfaces of objects remain intact, even if they are delicate or precision.
Saturation of the cleaning liquid: In most cases, a cleaning solution is used combined with water, specific detergents or mild solvents that enhance the action of ultrasonic waves. These liquids are specially formulated to remove more complex or resistant contaminants, without damaging the materials or components.
